EPBiH and the Municipality of Visoko: Successful cooperation on the CoolHeating Project - within the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Program

At the final meeting of the teams of the Municipality of Visoko and JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. - Sarajevo, as consortium partners on the CoolHeating project - within the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Program, municipality major M.Sc.Amra Babić on behalf of the Municipality of Visoko and prof. dr. Mustafa Musić, on behalf of JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. - Sarajevo, in the presence of Tarik Begic, assistant to the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the promotion of the 4th generation heating and cooling system, which is one of the project obligations

The CoolHeating project is being implemented as part of the European Commission's Program - Horizon 2020 and has been launched with the aim of supporting the implementation of modular heating and cooling systems based on renewable energy sources in the communities of Southeast Europe.

Teams of JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. - Sarajevo and the Municipalities of Visoko implemented the activities of testing resources and potential options, as well as strengthening the capacities in preparing financial and business solutions, as well as motivating the community and citizens to accept the district heating system based on renewable energy sources.

For the Municipality of Visoko, a modular solution for district heating with heat pumps, solar thermal collectors and seasonal heat storage has been designed, with existing gas installations as a back-up system for covering the peak loads.

Implementation of the complete Project and commissioning is expected in the next 5 years, with an annual production of 20 GWh of heat energy based on renewable energy sources.

The energy produced from renewable sources will be used to supply the city's residential area and public institutions (school, sports hall and medical center), while the plan is that the industrial zone and part of the urban area which is next to the industrial zone to be supplied with heat energy from cogeneration thermo-blocks of TPP Kakanj.
